Reaction between acid solution and base solution can produce salt and water. Acid-base reaction is called neutralization reaction because acid and base compounds reacting neutralize each other. Acid-base reaction can also produce salt, so that acid-base reaction is called salting reaction.
There are examples of acid-base reaction
- Reaction of Strong Acid and Strong Base
HCl + NaOH→NaCl + H2O
- Reaction of Strong Acid and Weak Base
HCl + NH4OH→NH4Cl +H2O
- Reaction of Weak Acid and Strong Base
CH3COOH + NaOH→CH3COONa + H2O
- Reaction of Weak Acid and Weak Base
CH3COOH + NH4OH→CH3COONH4 + H2O
